 EMERGENCY PLAN

In the event of an emergency, the board has developed a plan for foster dogs and contact personnel.  In an emergency such as hurricane or a flood, there is no time to drop off so we ask that the foster be taken with you.  You should take food and water along with any other necessary items that maybe need for a dog.  We understand that you will try and fill your vehicle with your own needs but if you could take a foldable crate this might be helpful if you end up at a shelter.

If you are unable to assist with keeping these animals safe, please contact the closest board member or coordinator to arrange pick up of the animals well in advance of the evacuation order.  If we have already evacuated the area, we will not be able to help you. It is very important to plan ahead and just communicate if you are not going to be able to take the dog with you. Due to our knowledge of what happened with the Katrina animals, we do not feel boarding them is the safest situation for them.

Below we have listed our only out-of-state volunteer, so far, willing to help us keep our communications in order.  Shiela Mundell lives in California and will be taking all the calls. She will chart your location and then we will call her to get daily updates. This will help us keep our cell phones from running down trying to talk to everyone, when there is no power to charge them and all the land lines are out.

Shiela is helping us out by taking calls to help us keep track of where everyone ended up. This will just be a quick call to let her know where you are and that you and the dog(s) are safe. She will need the fosters name, name of FDPR’s dog(s) you have with you, where you are, and how we can contract you with further instruction.  The number to call to check in is:

Shiela Mundell               661-946-9676
