Hi, my name is Duke. Life has thrown me a few curve balls lately but I’m still hopeful that I will find my forever home soon. I was adopted by someone with whom I’d thought I’d share the rest of my doggie years with, however her work schedule has gotten longer and she is not able to give me the attention that I need and deserve. She is heartbroken that she has to let me go but knows that it’s the best for me. I am ready to find my forever family that will shower me with lots of hugs, love, and attention.
I am neutered, heartworm negative and on preventative, house trained, and up to date on all of my shots. I’m told that I have a wonderful personality and that I’m a very loving dog. I enjoy being around other dogs and I’m also very gentle with humans of all shapes and sizes. I would do best in a home in which I wouldn’t be left at home by myself for more than 6-8 hours a day. The more active the home, the better! I love to play and need time to get my energy out since I’m still a young lad so a home with a fenced back yard would be ideal.
Like any young dog out there, I’d appreciate my new human family to invest a little time in me and take me to obedience training. Can you find it in your heart to provide me with a loving home? I’d be forever grateful!
6/25/09 Duke is a great pet. He is fun-loving and enjoys being petted and loved on. He will snuggle up with you although he is a bit larger than lap dog size. He has the most beautiful golden eyes that look at you with complete understanding and devotion. He loves to go for walks and check out the 'hood. He is a young dog who needs lots of exercise although lounging around the house is good with him also. If you are ignoring him too much, he will let you know by carrying a shoe out of your room and right past you. That's his sign for not getting enough exercise and needing to play. If you tell him to stop, he'll put the shoe down right away, it was only a ploy for attention anyway. When he needs love, he will walk up to your chair and put his big block head right on your shoulder for sympathy. He is very gentle and gets along well with other dogs. He will be the absolute love of your life! He is for us already.
